Mrs. Johnson's Trip to Italy

This past September Mrs. Johnson traveled from
Florida back to her beloved birthplace of Udine Italy which is a small town near Venice. The city of Udine is an industrial town known for its large export of fine handcrafted furniture, the vineyards spread throughout the rolling hills, and world renowned food.

In the five years since her last visit, the “Welcome Home” that was received was extraordinary. Renato, who is Mrs. Johnson’s brother-in-law, greeted her with open arms and excitedly declared that preparations for the arrival of the Queen of England could not have caused more commotion.

This trip however, was not your average European vacation by any means. There were close family to visit and catch up with, and many places to see.

Elizabeth, who is Mrs. Johnson’s daughter and Mrs. J both, got a true taste of La Dolce Vita. While there, they took in the Renaissance Festival with all of the characters of the epoca at work. “Quite an Experience!” exclaimed Mrs. J.

Anyone who knows Mrs. Johnson knows that she rarely travels anywhere without visiting local
antiques dealers or fine consignment shops. This year’s visit back to Italy would be no different.

While enjoying time with her God-daughter Chiaretta and her husband Nino, who is a world famous fighter pilot, as well as member of the elite Frecce Tricolori, Mrs. Johnson could not resist offering suggestions on decorating their new villa in the country. The remainder of that day was spent moving, planning and providing finishing touches.

Nino proved that he also had talents beyond being a great pilot. Nino was able to install a beautiful Murano
chandelier completely on his own. How about that!

Mrs. Johnson was also able to spend time with another niece Anna and her husband Lino Leggio who live in the very same house Mrs. Johnson was born in 82 years ago. Lino is the author of a book about meeting a young Elvis Presley, and there will soon be in a new film released that is based upon his story.

Between spending precious time with family and catching up with dear friends, Mrs. “J” also took in some sites and shops that perhaps an inexperienced or first time traveler might have missed. It doesn’t hurt that Mrs. Johnson is a native, and was certainly able to take the “road less traveled”.

On this trip, one of the highlights was finding three gorgeous, highly ornate vases from the early 19th century. Wow! These works of art truly define old world craftsmanship. It just so happens that these beautiful finds will not last long at True Treasures.

After a wonderful two weeks in Italy, it was back to work in another paradise we know as Palm Beach.

Hope to see you soon at True Treasures!
